Group: Defining

A non empty set G is said to be a group if in G there is defined an operation * such that

1) a,b ε G implies that a*b ε G. This is otherwise known as closure-- over the group defining operation, the product of the two group elements is also in the group.
2) given a,b,c εG then a*(b*c)=(a*b)*c This is the associative law-- it doesn't matter what order you work in so long as you work left to right.
3) There exists a special element e ε G such that a*e=e*a=e. This is the identity element.

You know you're really deep into genealogy when you become the state coordinator for a state you have no relatives in. I am now the state coordinator for Arkansas in the national Tombstone Project http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/registry.html

And I took spare time to photograph the "median graveyard"-- you know, the graveyard in the median strip if you take the 450 exit off of 50 E in annapolis?? going to annap mall? it's amazing. The graves aren't *that* old, either.
